Abstract

This study explores the processes and products of an interorganizational and interdisciplinary collaboration that was established to support the science learning of multilingual youth. The findings showcase what it takes to integrate equity, science, and language development considerations in resources designed to inform content-area instruction for multilingual learners. The research uses a case study approach to investigate the organizational, program, and interpersonal factors that shaped and helped sustain the collaboration. The analysis contributes to the knowledge base of what makes interdisciplinary collaboration effective. The paper adds to the nascent literature on the role of interdisciplinary collaboration in supporting the science education of multilingual students and is unique in its exploration of both the process and the product of this collaboration.
